Mandatory electronic invoicing: everything you need to know to adapt

As we have already mentioned before, with the Create and Grow Act, approved in September 2022, all companies and freelancers will be required to use electronic invoicing in their B2B transactions.

(Do you want to know what an electronic invoice is? We'll explain it to you in 1 minute)

When will electronic invoicing be mandatory in Spain?

In Spain, even if the law has already been approved, definitive confirmation of the mandatory date for electronic invoicing is pending. What is known is that:

  • Companies with a turnover of more than 8 million euros: They have a deadline of one year after the regulation is approved.
  • Companies and freelancers with a turnover of less than 8 million euros: in this case, they will have two years to comply with the law.

This means that the time for the transition is now. Our recommendation for a simple transition plan Follow these steps:

1. Know the regulations according to the needs of the company

In Spain, we know that the Create and Grow Act is the main reference. But if your company invoices in other countries, this will have to be taken into account to adapt the system to the requirements of each country. For example, with our Invictia connector, you can bill globally, without leaving SAP.

2. Select an e-billing provider

Choose a platform or software that meets legal requirements and is easy to integrate with your current systems. In Brait we can advise you on the most suitable solutions for your company's needs.

3. Adapt your internal processes

Train your team to use the new tools, if appropriate. If you adopt our Invictia solution, training is minimal, since there is no need to leave your SAP system.

4. Ensures data security and other compliance

Make sure that the selected provider offers high security standards to protect the confidential information of your company and customers. Above all, if you are going to invoice in different countries, this is particularly important, since you must also comply with the archiving of invoices for a certain period of time in the law.
